What we wanted to capture was never just how the Hmong village appeared. More important than the scenery were how people lived, how festivals were collectively celebrated, how craftsmanship was passed down from mother to daughter, and how an outsider photographer gradually learned to lower and slow their lens after repeated corrections.
Imaging makes the field happen twice. The first time is on-site: characters, sounds, and chance encounters constantly disrupt the original plan; the second time is at the editing table: we revisit those fragmented clips, searching for what the work truly intends to convey.

The camera enters villages, festival scenes, embroidery stalls, and Miao families. Miao, Hua, and Xiu "unfolds along the life of Miao embroidery and three generations of women, and also preserves the hesitation, questioning, and changes of students when they first entered the humanistic field.
